Project Purpose(s)

  • Educational

Scientific Approaches

The Research Support team will demonstrate how to find concepts on the Researcher Workbench using a use case of sickle cell trait to create a case and control cohort. The goal of this project is to highlight the capabilities of the Cohort Builder, Cohort Review, and Dataset Builder, as well as explore All of Us data structure.

Anticipated Findings

There are no anticipated findings from this study; this project is used for education and training purposes only. After the workshop, we hope the attendees will have a basic understanding of how to create a cohort and dataset within the Researcher Workbench. Dissemination of this workspace and related cohorts, datasets, and notebooks will be for DRC operational use only.

Scientific Questions Being Studied

This is a test workspace which is used for for Outreach presentations, to demonstrate how to create a cohort and dataset. Different cohorts and datasets will be created as examples of how to (1) perform analysis of phenotype data (disease state, lab measurements etc) and (2) perform GWAS analysis to identify genetic variants which are associated with specific disease states.

Project Purpose(s)

  • Educational

Scientific Approaches

To demonstrate how to perform analysis of phenotype data, I will use the cohort builder and dataset builder to build case and control cohorts with the concept sets of interest (disease state, lab measurements, basic demographics) To demonstrate how to perform a GWAS analysis, I will build cohorts of participants with srWGS data available with concept sets of interest (disease state, basic demographic data) using the cohort and dataset builders. These datasets will be exported to Jupyter Notebook to perform GWAS analysis and display the results as a Manhattan plot.

Anticipated Findings

Not applicable, as this is a test workspace to familiarize myself with performing different types of analysis on the workbench.

Demographic Categories of Interest

This study will not center on underrepresented populations.
